Hi everyone,

Message:
what does it mean "bash" or "bashi", please? I found some meanings of bash in dictionary but am not sure which of them R used commonly. Also what does it mean certainly in the phrases like "Dar tamAs bash". I know that tamas is contact and dar means in. Secondly, I would like to ask, if there is any hint to know how to pronounce the Persian letter (I think its called vav) for u,v,and o, if I don't know a word with this letter and want to read it. Do foreigners have to learn every word to know how to pronounce it? The letter is used for example in these words: hair (mOO), you (tO) and so on. How do U say "to learn" and "to speak" in Persian and also how do u conjugate these verbs in the PRESENT tense? I think in the past is very easy, i just need the suffixes and the basic state of a verb. one more think I actually want to know. I read in some forum that the word Parsi is more correct than Farsi (Arabic form of Persian). But as I've noticed, Iranian people use on internet the word Parsi rarely. Is it true that Parsi is a correct term, or is it an old fashioned term, or Iranians do not care that they R influced by Arabic? Thanx much for your answer. Persian language is so beautiful! I like it, it's a bit (just a bit) similar to my language... I feel familiar with it.

Your question has targeted a very vast area in Farsi Grammar. I will try to answer part of that. "bash" or "bashi" are helping verbs in Farsi, they are in fact Subjunctive/Imperative froms of the verb "budan" which in English we can say "to be". so "dar tamas bash" is the imperative form of the idiom "dar tamas budan" which means "to be in contact with someone". Here it means "be in contact with me."
